Juventus raise funds with multiple sales

Juventus have agreed deals to sell Denis Zakaria, Luca Pellegrini, Nicolò Rovella, Koni De Winter and Enzo Barrenechea, raising funds so that big stars don’t need to leave.

The Bianconeri are forced to tighten their belts after the financial irregularities scandal, which not only transformed their existing balance sheets, but also saw them excluded from UEFA competition for this season.

It was assumed they would have to sell some of their biggest names this summer to balance the books, especially if they want to bring in Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea at €40m.

However, new director of sport Cristiano Giuntoli is taking a different approach and one that is just starting to bear fruit.

Defender Koni De Winter completed his transfer to Genoa yesterday, on loan with an obligation to buy under certain conditions for circa €8m.

Left-back Pellegrini and midfielder Rovella are heading to Lazio for a combined €21m, set to have their medicals over the weekend or on Monday.

Zakaria is on the verge of a move to AS Monaco for a reported €20m plus bonuses.

Meanwhile, youth team midfielder Barrenechea is close to newly-promoted Frosinone on loan with an option to buy.
