Juventus linked Aubameyang unavailable in AFCON due to ‘heart lesions’

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus recently, is unavailable for Gabon’s AFCON match against Ghana due to ‘heart lesions’.

The 32-year-old Gabonese forward was ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations opener against Comoros due to COVID and he only returned to squad training yesterday, following a negative test.

As reported by BBC Sport, Aubameyang will not be able to play against Ghana after suffering minor heart lesions as a result of his battle with COVID. The Arsenal striker suffered from malaria last year and also suffered from some long-term issues from it.

Aubameyang has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus in recent weeks, with the Bianconeri looking for a replacement for the injured Federico Chiesa, needing a proven goalscorer.

The 32-year-old Gabonese forward has fallen out of favour with Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta and so a deal could suit all parties, but the Turin side will have to move quickly if they want to secure his signature before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
