Juventus adjust Di Maria offer to battle Barcelona

Juventus have reportedly changed their proposal to Angel Di Maria, making it a one-year contract with an option for a second rather than a two-year deal, hoping it will convince him to snub Barcelona.

The Argentina international is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

He had been set deadlines to give Juve a response, but there have still not been any developments.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus realise that the sticking point is Di Maria’s intention to return to Argentina in 2023.

They are therefore prepared to adjust their proposal from a two-year contract to a one-year deal, which also has an option to extend for a second season.

Di Maria continues to discuss the situation with his family, who would prefer a move to Spain.

The 34-year-old did play for Real Madrid from 2010 to 2014, before his €75m transfer to Manchester United, followed by PSG a year later.
