Italy’s EURO 2024 qualifier with Malta will be in Bari

Italy have announced their EURO 2024 qualifier with Malta will be played at the Stadio San Nicola in Bari on October 14.

It will be the first time that the Azzurri have set foot in this arena since a 3-1 friendly defeat to France here in September 2016.

This could also be a trial run for the future, as Bari is one of the 10 cities in the dossier for Italy’s proposal to host the EURO 2032 tournament.

It was recently packed out with 60,000 people for the Serie B promotion play-off between Bari and Cagliari, which saw the Sardinians step up to Serie A.

Italy’s record in Bari is of nine victories, one draw and just the one friendly defeat.

The Nazionale beat Malta 2-0 away from home in March.

They resume their EURO 2024 qualifying campaign on September 9 against North Macedonia in Skopje, then host Ukraine at San Siro in Milan on September 12.
