Inzaghi fury at VAR

Simone Inzaghi is increasingly frustrated with officials refusing to use VAR after Lazio were denied a penalty in their 2-2 draw with Cagliari.

Ciro Immobile clawed back a last-gasp equaliser with his spectacular back-heel flick, but while VAR was used to award a Cagliari spot-kick for Luiz Felipe’s foul, it was ignored earlier as Immobile was sandwiched between two defenders.

Ciro Immobile clawed back a last-gasp equaliser with his spectacular back-heel flick, but while VAR was used to award a Cagliari spot-kick for Luiz Felipe’s foul, it was ignored earlier as Immobile was sandwiched between two defenders.

“The penalty given to Cagliari is not up for debate, but many things make you think really quite badly,” Inzaghi told Mediaset Premium.

“All season we have been penalised and we are trying to think positive. Guida told us that he saw the incident and was sure it wasn’t a penalty. I don’t know what the VAR officials told him, just as I don’t know what they communicated to each other last week against Juventus.

“I don’t want to comment on these incidents any more.”

The Biancocelesti are struggling for momentum, as they were also held to a 2-2 draw by Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League on Thursday.

“Considering how the game went today, we’re more than happy with a point, but the truth is we deserved more. We are creating many chances and did again today, but we keep making mistakes both in attack and defence.

“At times, games can be transformed after a penalty incident. Our position in the table could be different if you add together the penalties against Juve, Torino, in Genoa

“You can only feel confident with results, but the lads are giving their all.”
