Man United and Tottenham dealt Skriniar transfer blow

Tottenham and Manchester United have reportedly set their sights on Milan Skriniar, but Inter will soon offer their star defender a new contract.

The Slovakia international sees his contract expire in June 2023, but the Nerazzurri have already decided to offer him a new deal. The former Sampdoria man has been one of Inter’s key players this term and the Serie A champions would rather sell Stefan de Vrij in the summer. The Dutch defender also sees his contract expire in June 2023.

Both La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport report that Inter will sit down with Skriniar by the end of the season, offering him a new deal.

According to La Gazzetta, Skriniar should see his €3.5m-a-year salary raise to €4.5m plus add-ons. Tottenham and Manchester United are long time admirers of the 27-year-old, but will be forced to look elsewhere as the defender is determined to extend his stay at the club. De Vrij is Skriniar’s No.1 alternative for Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.

Skriniar has recently confirmed that the Nerazzurri will soon offer him a new contract.

“My contract runs out in 2023, but I think I’ll stay longer. I imagine that club directors are happy and want to offer me a new deal,” he said while on international duty in March.
