Milan Skriniar confirms he wants to remain at Inter beyond 2023: ‘I think I’ll stay longer and I imagine the club will offer me a new contract.’

The 27-year-old received the award as the best Slovakian player for the third year in a row and spoke to local media after the ceremony last night. “We won the title last season and we can repeat ourselves this term,” the defender said, as quoted by FCInternews.

“We are a bit behind in the table, but Serie A is a balanced league and we’ll get back to winning ways soon. Milan and Napoli are ahead of us, but we have a game in hand. We want the title and we’ll do everything to do it.”

Skriniar’s contract at San Siro expires in June 2023, but the Slovakia international hopes to extend his stay at the club.

“My contract runs out in 2023, but I think I’ll stay longer. I imagine that club directors are happy and want to offer me a new deal.”

Many Inter stars have recently extended their contracts with the Serie A champions. Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Nicolò Barella and Lautaro Martinez have all put pen to paper on new contracts over the last few months.

Marcelo Brozovic will be the next one and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will announce his extension today. Then it will be time to start negotiations with Skriniar. The Slovakia international has played 204 games with the Nerazzurri since his €30m move from Sampdoria in 2017.
