Inter lead Barcelona in race for free agent Ginter

Inter are reportedly leading the race to sign Matthias Ginter as a free agent at the end of the season.

The 2014 Germany World Cup winner sees his contract expire in June 2022 and according to Calciomercato.com, the Serie A champions and Barcelona are among the clubs interested in securing his services.

His €3m-a-year salary is sustainable for the Nerazzurri who are reportedly in pole position to sign the 27-year-old at the end of the season.

Ginter has played 12 games across all competitions with Borussia Monchengladbach this term and can sign a pre-contract agreement with any club from January ahead of a free transfer in the summer.

Inter have qualified for the Champions League last 16 for the first time in ten years and will therefore earn circa €60m in prize money.

Ginter is not the only player monitored by the Nerazzurri. According to the same report, Ajax goalkeeper André Onana is set to move to San Siro at the end of his contract in June.

Inter are also keeping a close eye on Napoli‘s Lorenzo Insigne. The Italy star is nowhere close to reaching an agreement to extend his expiring contract with the Partenopei.
