Inter are reportedly leading the race to sign Matthias Ginter as a free agent at the end of the season.

The 2014 Germany World Cup winner sees his contract expire in June 2022 and according to Calciomercato.com, the Serie A champions and Barcelona are among the clubs interested in securing his services.

His €3m-a-year salary is sustainable for the Nerazzurri who are reportedly in pole position to sign the 27-year-old at the end of the season.

Ginter has played 12 games across all competitions with Borussia Monchengladbach this term and can sign a pre-contract agreement with any club from January ahead of a free transfer in the summer.

Inter have qualified for the Champions League last 16 for the first time in ten years and will therefore earn circa €60m in prize money.

Ginter is not the only player monitored by the Nerazzurri. According to the same report, Ajax goalkeeper André Onana is set to move to San Siro at the end of his contract in June.

Inter are also keeping a close eye on Napoli‘s Lorenzo Insigne. The Italy star is nowhere close to reaching an agreement to extend his expiring contract with the Partenopei.

  1. It`s not for the sake of it, Ginter is a top defender and could allow the club to cash in on De Vrij just in case Raiola is not behaving accordingly.

Zakaria will be free but I doubt he will join Serie A, so not realistic.

Bellotti is also becoming a free agent, not sure if he is able to consistently perform at a top club.

  2. Rather than Ginter, I’d prefer Luiz Felipe from Lazio. He’s younger at 24 and will also be free agent in 2022. We struck gold previously with DeVrij and possibly Inzaghi from Lazio. Luiz felipe is a very reliable defender and already familiar with italian football, quite underrated. I wouldn’t mind to get both though since DeVrij is managed by Raiola and probably wants to try new challenge elsewhere
