He has a meeting planned with Manchester City and Jovetic’s agents.

“Our squad is becoming stronger by the day and our aim is to keep on getting better and better,” said Thohir.

The proposal is a loan with option to buy for €20m, but his fitness problems mean there is a clause based on the number of appearances he makes during the season.

It’s believed the Nerazzurri put forward wages worth €3.5m per season – just over half what he currently earns in Manchester – but the Montenegro international is willing to accept that in order to get more playing time.

Juventus had also been interested in ex-Fiorentina striker Jovetic, but the proposal of a loan with option to buy for €18m was apparently rejected.

“Am I satisfied with the transfer market so far? Yes, I’m happy, but there are another two months to go and we could sign more,” said Coach Roberto Mancini in today’s Press conference.

“President Thohir made a big effort and will make more, which means he cares a great deal.

“We are working on the attack because there are few options there. We’re looking for players who can play in any of the attacking roles, as that versatility would be an advantage.”
