Handanovic and Perisic must take pay cut to stay at Inter

Inter‘s chiefs will soon sit down with Samir Handanovic and Ivan Perisic to discuss their contract extensions, but according to reports in Italy, both players must accept a pay cut to stay at San Siro.

The Nerazzurri have recently extended with Lautaro Martinez, Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolò Barella and Federico Dimarco.

Marcelo Brozovic should be the next one. According to multiple reports in Italy, the Croat international has reached an agreement over a new deal until 2026.

His current contract runs out in June and the same is true of those of Samir Handanovic and Ivan Perisic.

Inter will soon announce the signing of Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana as a free agent for the summer, but hope Handanovic stays at the Stadio Meazza until 2023 to help Onana settle in.

According to Calciomercato.com, the veteran goalkeeper will be offered a substantial pay cut and the same strategy will be used with Perisic.

The Croatia international doesn’t want to earn less than his current €5.5m, but Inter seem unlikely to offer more than €3.5m per season.

The Serie A giants have already signed a possible replacement for Perisic, having welcomed Robin Gosens from Atalanta in January.

Perisic will probably take time and the Nerazzurri are in no rush to know his final decision.
