Immobile will remain under observation in hospital for another night after tram collision

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile will remain in hospital for another night for further observations after colliding with a tram while driving his car in Rome with two of his daughters on Sunday morning.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Immobile has been advised by doctors to remain in hospital until given the all clear and it is reported that the 33-year-old wishes to remain close to his daughter.

As per the reports in Italy on Sunday, Immobile’s car crashed into the number 19 tram junction between Piazza delle Cinque Giornate and Ponte Matteotti after it allegedly ran a red light.

However, the tram driver, who was also hospitalised following the collision, told La Repubblica that he had not violated any road or traffic laws.

Immobile was quick to inform his supporters, thousands of whom have wished him a speedy recovery, that he had been unharmed during the incident.

However, a statement released by Lazio confirmed that the Azzurri striker had suffered a trauma to the spine – most likely whiplash – and a compound fracture to his 11th rib on the right hand side

La Gazzetta writes that Immobile remains in good spirits and is even targeting Lazio’s visit to San Siro to face Inter on April 30 as a potential return date.
