Ibrahimovic to sign new Milan contract

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will extend his contract with Milan, signing a new deal until June 2023, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Serie A giants will reportedly open talks with their star forward after the winter transfer window.

The veteran striker is Milan’s highest earner with a €7m-a-year salary and his current deal runs out in June 2022.

Ibrahimovic feels well at Milan and the club is satisfied with his performances. Therefore, the two parties are expected to reach an agreement without any problem.

Ibra has scored three goals in eight appearances in all competitions so far this season and is determined to remain at San Siro for one more year.

According to the report, Ibrahimovic’s target is to play in the 2022 World Cup that takes place in Qatar between November and December next year.

The Rossoneri want to finalise contract extensions for Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer before beginning negotiations with Ibra.

Alessio Romagnoli and Franck Kessié’s extensions are among Milan’s priorities, but both players are unlikely to sign new deals at San Siro, meaning they’ll leave at the end of their contracts in June 2022.
