Higuain nets first half hattrick for Inter Miami

Former Napoli and Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain put on a show for Inter Miami in their 4-4 draw against Cincinnati yesterday, scoring a first half hattrick.

The 34-year-old Argentinian forward hasn’t had the easiest season for the MLS side this campaign, struggling for consistent minutes over the last few months following a slight knee issue. Higuain bounced back earlier this month, netting in consecutive games against Philadelphia Union and Charlotte.

Higuain showed a hint of his former quality for Inter Miami yesterday, with everything starting in the 23rd minute, when he scored a fine free kick. 14 minutes later he found his second, and just before the end of the half the Argentinian veteran completed his hattrick.

Higuain’s impressive match takes his season goal tally to seven, a respectable haul from 16 league outings.

The Argentinian striker always had an eye for goal in Serie A with Napoli and Juventus, netting 125 goals in 224 league appearances for the two clubs.
