Giulini: Inter too presumptuous

Tommaso Giulini has celebrated Cagliari’s win at Inter and suggested that the Nerazzurri were too ‘presumptuous’ heading into the match.

Week 5’s shock result saw the Sardinians leave San Siro with a 4-1 victory, to place their President in a good mood this morning.

“The awakening was magnificent, I could only dream of scoring four gaols against Inter at San Siro,” Giulini has told Radio Anch’io lo Sport today.

“The team is adapting to the teachings of Zeman and whilst the red card for Nagatomo gave us a hand, the guys have been extraordinary.

“Our project is based on young players, Zeman is a master of football and I think that few have his qualities. Inter yesterday will have noted the performance of Lorenzo Crisetig [on loan between the clubs at Cagliari].

“My Inter past? From 2005 until last year I was on the board at Inter, eight years with five consecutive Scudetti were beautiful, the treble was the pinnacle of that journey.

“After yesterday’s win, I received many messages, I was not expecting a win like that. The beauty of this sort is also in that, to see our fans rejoice.”

Giulini recently commented on an ambition to break into the top five of Serie A by the club’s centenary, which comes in 2020.

“We will try to do as well as [predecessor Massimo] Cellino did in his 22 years. I saw an Inter that was too presumptuous – it is rare to see Juventus trip up in these games for too much presumption.

“Zeman? There were never any doubts about him as a master of football. I have not wavered after the first few results of the season.”
