Gilardino to face Milan?

Alberto Gilardino could make his first start for Fiorentina when they welcome Milan to Artemio Franchi tonight.

The striker re-joined the Viola in January, after a brief sojourn in the Chinese Superleague with Guangzhou Evergrande.

Both Calciomercato and Corriere dello Sport expect Gilardino to start against his former club tonight, in a match which could be crucial for Rossoneri Coach Filippo Inzaghi’s future.

Milan sold the 32-year-old to Fiorentina in 2008 after three seasons with the club, the last of which yielded just seven goals after hitting double figures in the previous two.

For the Diavolo, Mattia Destro is expected to lead the line in a 4-3-3 shape, with Jeremy Menez and Keisuke Honda in support.

Gabriel Paletta and Philippe Mexes are likely to form the central defence, while Marco van Ginkel could get a rare start in midfield.

Probable Fiorentina line-up: Neto; Richards, Gonzalo Rodriguez, Basanta, Pasqual; Aquilani, Badelj, Mati Fernandez; Diamanti, Gilardino, Ilicic.

Probable Milan line-up: Diego Lopez; Abate, Mexes, Paletta, Antonelli; Van Ginkel, Essien, Bonaventura; Honda, Destro, Menez.
