The Rossoneri saw their 13-match unbeaten competitive run ended by a 2-0 home loss to Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday.

“I liked the atmosphere after the game, as the lads were disappointed and angry, eager to get going in training,” said Gattuso in his Press conference.

“When you lose, it has to hurt, it has to burn you. We analysed the game and our first half against Arsenal was not the way we’ve played over the last two months. Arsenal lowered the tempo in the second half and we didn’t pass it well. I am the first person responsible for this.

“It’s wonderful to be the Coach of a team, but you need to get results. Courage is not enough, as the Premier League players have a completely different physicality to ours. I continue to maintain Serie A is the more difficult league, but the Premier League is physically tough.

“Evidently we could’ve prepared the game better and maybe it was me and my staff who were at fault. A few whacks in the face can do you good, they help you to learn.

“We can still have our say in the second leg and I don’t know why people think we’re going to London just for a vacation. We have a glorious jersey to represent.”

Before that, Milan face a very difficult Serie A trip to Genoa, who already beat Inter a few weeks ago.

“Genoa are a tough opponent and have had fantastic results since Davide Ballardini took over. We have to play our football and rediscover that unity.

“The Grifone know what to do, we have to battle and fight back at them blow by blow. They are always aggressive, dangerous on the counter and we must be careful on knock-downs.”
