Gian Piero Gasperini defends his former player Ivan Juric, saying he’s been left ‘alone’ handling an ‘explosive’ situation at Roma.
Juric is on the brink after a 3-2 loss against Hellas Verona on Sunday, which left the Giallorossi only five points above the relegation zone in Serie A.
The Croatian tactician has won just four games from 10 since replacing Daniele De Rossi in mid-September.
Gasperini: Juric ‘alone’ in ‘explosive’ Roma situation
“It’s an explosive situation that erupted after De Rossi’s sacking,” Gasperini told Radio Radio on Monday morning.
“Juric is handling a hot potato; only the results can save him.”
Juric played 215 games at Genoa under Gasperini as a footballer.
“Ivan is an excellent coach; he works well and can get results if he receives support,” Gasp continued.
“The Roma situation is extremely tricky; he’s also alone and puts his face on everything he does. He is doing all he can.”
Frank Lampard, Massimiliano Allegri and Paulo Sousa have been linked with the Giallorossi job.
Gasperini’s Atalanta beat table leaders Napoli 3-0 on Sunday and are just three points below the Partenopei.
