Roma Coach Paulo Fonseca believes the 1-1 Derby della Capitale draw with Lazio was “an anthem for those who love the sport.”

It ended 1-1, but Lazio hit the woodwork four times and Roma rattled the frame of the goal twice.

“To anyone who enjoys football, it was an extraordinary match,” smiled the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.

“These two teams created so many scoring opportunities and it was a great spectacle for the fans and neutrals. It’s true, at times we were forced to go a little deeper than we wanted to, as Lazio created problems down the left flank.

“It was a spectacular Rome Derby. We Coaches always lose a few years of life during games like this, but this was an anthem for those who love the sport.”

The original plan was to have Alessandro Florenzi in a more advanced role, but Davide Zappacosta had a calf problem during the warm-up.

“We had an issue with Zappacosta and that forced us to rethink some things. We weren’t that effective in the pressing, but it’s not easy to press a team that works with three players.”
