Fiorentina have been in close contact with Weston McKennie and are gearing up for talks with Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.

The Viola have been hard at work strengthening their squad under new coach Raffaele Palladino this summer, completing deals for Marin Pongracic, Moise Kean and Andrea Colpani. The club are now pushing to sign Tanner Tessmann from Venezia and are also keen on Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson.

In the meantime, Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez has ended up in the sights of both Atalanta and Juventus, with the former more focused on a deal than the latter. The Viola have been linked with Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi as a possible replacement.

Page 19 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Fiorentina have been in talks with McKennie’s representatives as they explore a deal for the Juventus midfielder. No approach has been made to the Old Lady yet but contact is expected soon.

The impression is that a deal for the American midfielder would be separate from the Nico Gonzalez affair. The 25-year-old has less than a year left on his contract in Turin and isn’t part of Thiago Motta’s project moving forward.
