New Fiorentina coach Gennaro Gattuso met Franck Ribery yesterday, insisting he wants him to stay at the club next season.

The contract of the former Bayern Munich star ends on June 30 but it’s very likely he will extend his stay at the club until 2022 at least.

Both parties want to continue together and according to La Nazione, Gattuso met the 38-year-old in Forte dei Marmi on Friday evening.

They had dinner together and Gattuso informed Ribery that he wants him to stay at the club for at least one more season.

Ribery is also open to extending his stay at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

“My priority is to stay here,” the former France international said earlier this week.

“I hope I can continue here, but I am still waiting to discuss it together [with the club].”

Ribery earns €4.5m-a-year at Fiorentina and the Tuscans could offer him a new two-year deal.
