Eusebio Di Francesco is relatively confident Alisson will remain at Roma and looks forward to facing his old club Sassuolo.

“Taking the right approach to every game is fundamental to improve as a team. We haven’t achieved third place yet, it won’t be easy against Sassuolo, as they’ve lost just one of their last 10,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Taking the right approach to every game is fundamental to improve as a team. We haven’t achieved third place yet, it won’t be easy against Sassuolo, as they’ve lost just one of their last 10,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

This is also a special match for Di Francesco, who left Sassuolo last summer.

“I am happy to see so many friends again. It was a family atmosphere and a unique one, so I learned a lot here.”

The tactician was asked about the future of goalkeeper Alisson Becker amid reports of Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid interest.

“I am relaxed, as Monchi and Morgan De Sanctis can replace him easily! Look, nothing is definitive in football, but I am convinced that from what I can tell Alisson will remain here at Roma.

“He won’t play tomorrow, as he has a muscular problem, so Lukasz Skorupski will start. Cengiz Under didn’t train today either, but he will make the journey and have a fitness test tomorrow morning. Federico Fazio is also in doubt.”

There are several Sassuolo players who have been linked with a Di Francesco reunion at Roma, above all Matteo Politano and Domenico Berardi.

“I don’t want to talk about players who aren’t at Roma, because I could be misunderstood and I don’t want to create headlines for you. I am fond of all the Sassuolo players I worked with.

“Francesco Magnanelli is the emblem of the player every Coach would want in his team. Matteo and Domenico are two lads I am very fond of, as well as being great talents.”

Roma have already qualified for the Champions League, having reached the semi-final this season, so Di Francesco surprised many with his debut campaign.

“We helped bring people back to feeling close to Roma, but it’s a starting point and we can’t stop now. We mustn’t underestimate anyone and show the utmost focus in everything we do, but it’s wonderful to have rediscovered that enthusiasm.

“We did something extraordinary in the Champions League, even if we also have regrets that we weren’t able to reach the Final. As for our Serie A season, it’s disappointing that we were so detached from the top two and we could’ve scored more goals.

“I don’t like the general prejudice around the team and not just around me, especially at the start of the season. That attitude irritated me.”
