EA strips down Ronaldo branding?

EA Sports has taken down images of Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo from its social-media accounts and website following allegations of rape.

Eurogamer was quick to spot EA had removed the FIFA 19 cover star from its Twitter and Facebook banners, replacing him with a graphic that promoted its good reviews.

Indeed, the No 7’s face is only seen near the bottom of the FIFA homepage on the developer’s site, donning the cover of a ‘Champions Edition’ of the game.

Eurogamer adds EA currently do not have any plans of ditching the 33-year-old, while explaining to the site that social banners are updated for ‘certain marketing beats’.

Nonetheless, the media giant expressed its ‘concern’ with the allegation and was ‘closely following’ the case.
