Details behind Giroud’s contract renewal with Milan

Milan are ready to extend Olivier Giroud’s contract as the Frenchman continues to prove himself invaluable to the club.

The 36-year-old forward joined the Rossoneri from Chelsea last year and immediately slotted in well in Stefano Pioli’s squad, being a key reference point on the pitch and a valuable leader in the dressing room. Giroud scored 11 goals in 29 games last season to help Milan’s Scudetto run and this season he’s been equally prolific, netting nine in 18 across all competitions.

As reported by Corriere della Sera, Milan have already prepared a contract extension for Giroud, writing up a one-year deal worth €3.5m net, the same figures that he currently earns in the Lombardy capital.

Pen will likely be put to paper after the World Cup in Qatar, a tournament that the 36-year-old is desperate to go to. He’ll be anxiously awaiting France coach Didier Deschamps’ squad announcement, which’ll come later this week.
