France manager Didier Deschamps is “happy to be back in Italy” for tomorrow’s international friendly against the Azzurri.

“It is a friendly, but the result is always important,” he said ahead of the Wednesday evening game at the Stadio Tardini in Parma.

“When you take on a team like Italy, who are one of the best in the world, there are always special expectations and it requires a particular level of concentration.”

Les Bleus are also reconstructing after a disappointing showing in the last few international tournaments.

“Italy can represent an example to be followed. I don’t know exactly what to expect from Italy, as in terms of systems they can adapt with a three-man defence or a 4-3-3. I’m certain Cesare Prandelli will choose a very attacking side.”

Deschamps spent much of his playing career at Juventus and was also their Coach in Serie B in 2006-07.

“I was happy in Turin, both professionally and personally. I have only positive memories. I’m happy to be back in Italy, even if I had hoped this game would be played in Turin.

“It will be wonderful to meet up with players who I knew and had the pleasure to train.”
