There are increasing reports Daniele De Rossi will postpone his retirement and make one of his dreams come true by playing for Boca Juniors.

The midfielder turns 36 later this month and his contract with lifelong club Roma was not renewed.

He had been ready to hang up his boots rather than play for a different team, but TN.com and Sky Sport Italia now suggest De Rossi is ready to sign a five-month contract for Boca.

DDR had always said it was his dream to play in the legendary Bombonera and the Boca Juniors director of sport is his former Roma teammate Nicolas Burdisso.

The decision was also hinted at by another ex-Roma player and current President of the AIC (Italian Players’ Association) Damiano Tommasi.

“He mustn’t let someone else decide when he is to retire. He knows how much passion he has for this sport and there are clubs that can still give him the motivation to keep playing,” Tommasi told Tuttomercatoweb.

“There are players who go beyond the jersey and he doesn’t have to feel limited by Roma. After all, he won the World Cup with the Italy shirt.”
