Roma’s Daniele De Rossi has been handed a three-match ban by Serie A’s disciplinary body after punching Mauro Icardi in the face.

The incident, which took place during the goalless draw between the sides on Saturday, was not spotted at the time by referee Mauro Bergonzi.

“The television replays show that the Roma player aggressively pushed the opposition player’s head,” a statement reads.

“Then, in quick succession, he punched Icardi with the same hand from behind.”

Inter’s Juan Jesus has also been given the same punishment for punching the back of Giallorossi player Alessio Romagnoli during the same match.
