De Ketelaere ‘overwhelmed’ by Milan move

Charles De Ketelaere admits he was ‘overwhelmed’ by finally making his move to Milan, while Club Brugge gave him a kind send-off.

The versatile attacking midfielder arrived for €32m plus €3m in bonuses and a 12.5 per cent cut of any future transfer fee.

He signed the five-year contract this evening and spoke to Milan Channel, who released a small snippet on their Instagram account.

“I am a guy who is mostly really calm, but I was a little bit overwhelmed, just didn’t know how to react,” said the 21-year-old.

“They say you cannot imagine until you are here and you feel the real warmth and passion of the fans and the club. It’s different than if you just speak with them.”

Meanwhile, Club Brugge gave him a kind send-off with a moving video showing his development from their youth academy to the Belgium national team.

“Of course I am very happy with this next step. As a young player you have the ambition to be able to play at the top abroad as well,” De Ketelaere told the official club website.

“I want to thank everyone at Club for all the opportunities I got there and it will be always be my home.”
