Patrick Cutrone has revealed some of the shocking and downright criminal threats and insults he received after missing a penalty for Como.

The former Milan, Fiorentina, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Valencia player dropped down into Serie B in 2022 to play for his hometown club.

He helped them to promotion and stepped up to take a 95th-minute penalty against Udinese yesterday evening, but drilled it wide of the target.

Como ‘fans’ turn on Cutrone

The player was distraught, but it was to get worse when he got home and checked his social media channels, forced to read the most extreme threats and insults.

Cutrone posted some of them on his Instagram to show what he has been forced to deal with over an error on the pitch.

“I accept criticism, as is only right, but I will not let this slide. This is only one example out of the many others I received.”

The message included an offensive slur referring to a gay man and the phrase: ‘I hope you kill yourself and your children die of cancer.’
