Cuadrado refuses to spread his salary with Juve

Juan Cuadrado and Juventus have been unable to reach an agreement to spread out his salary over two years.

The 33-year-old Colombian’s contract was set to expire in June but it was automatically renewed for a year after he made his 40th appearance of the season. He is a key part of Massimiliano Allegri’s squad in Turin and has proven his tactical flexibility on a number of occasions, playing as both a right winger and a right back.

As reported by La Stampa, Juventus want to extend Cuadrado’s contract to 2024, lowering his halving his salary from €5m to €2.5m net per season, essentially spreading the last year of his wages over two years.

The Colombian has so far refused to accept this and for now is set to earn the full €5m for the last year of his contract.

The 33-year-old Cuadrado has made 40 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2933 minutes. In that time, he’s scored five goals and provided five assists.
