Cragno to have shoulder op

Alessio Cragno is expected to be out for several months, as Cagliari confirmed the goalkeeper requires surgery.

The shot-stopper has been struggling since pre-season with a right shoulder injury after an awkward fall during a friendly in Istanbul.

It had become evident the problem was serious when the club signed Sweden international Robin Olsen on loan from Roma on transfer deadline day.

Now the Sardinians have announced Cragno will go under the knife in Rome’s Villa Stuart clinic on Saturday.

Cagliari implied he would be out for some time, as Cragno was left off their Serie A squad list.

So was Leonardo Pavoletti, as the forward had knee surgery and will be out for seven months.
