Milan legend Billy Costacurta blasted Mario Balotelli, warning he “will never be world class.”

The striker is back in the firing line after Tuesday’s 4-1 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid, one of his worst performances.

“Balotelli can be a player the Rossoneri can count on, but only as long as he isn’t the fulcrum of the team,” said Sky Sport Italia pundit Costacurta.

“He is not a star and in my view will never be a world class player.”

Former defender Costacurta also gave suggestions to Coach Clarence Seedorf on how to structure the side next season.

“I would take up the options on both Adel Taarabt and Adil Rami, who in my view haven’t shown all they can do yet.

“Then Riccardo Saponara, Andrea Petagna and Bryan Cristante are all young talents they can count on.”

Milan have been linked with summer swoops for PSG defender Alex, who is a free agent, and Tottenham forward Emmanuel Adebayor.

“I doubt either of them will arrive. Seedorf wants young players who are really hungry for victory.”
