Conte announces Tottenham signings, refuses to discuss Lukaku’s situation

Tottenham coach Antonio Conte confirms Spurs will make new signings in January but refuses to comment on Romelu Lukaku’s situation: ‘He is a Chelsea player…’

Conte won the Italian derby in the Premier League yesterday, by beating Claudio Ranieri’s Watford thanks to a late Davinson Sanchez’s goal.

The former Italy coach is still unbeaten in Premier League since his appointment as Spurs coach at the beginning of November.

The 52-year-old spoke to Sky Sport Italia after yesterday’s victory over Watford, confirming that Spurs will bring in reinforcements during the winter transfer window.

“There will be new signings, when I was appointed they said that we would meet to talk about it,” Conte confirmed.

“The situation is very clear, it won’t be simple, it won’t be easy, but we need to make our assessments to understand where we are and where we want to get. Right now, every game is a battle.

“We have to suffer, it’s not easy, the league’s level is very high.”

Conte refused to comment on Romelu Lukaku’s situation at Chelsea.

Lukaku expresses Chelsea regrets and Inter reunion hopes

The Belgian striker apologised to Inter fans for the way he left over the summer, admitting that things are not going as he expected at Stamford Bridge.

Conte was one of the reasons why Lukaku joined Inter in 2019, but the Belgian’s move to North London in the winter transfer window seems unlikely.

“I have great affection for him, but he is a Chelsea player,” the Tottenham boss said.

Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances at Inter under Conte. He now has seven goals in 18 matches with the Blues.
