Cristian Chivu denies rumours he’d cross to join Milan, but his agent criticised Inter for continually putting off contract renewal talks.

The Romanian international defender’s current deal expires in June, so from next week he’d be free to sign for another club.

“There is nothing certain about Chivu’s future or his contract renewal,” agent Victor Becali told Calciomercato.it.

“At the moment we have no meetings planned with Inter. Perhaps we’ll discuss it between February and March, after the Champions League.

“It is within the club’s rights to decide whether or not to renew the contracts of their players. Of course, if they do want to renew, then perhaps they ought to think about that a little earlier.”

Chivu also spoke to Inter Channel about his future, specifically those reports that he would be moving across the San Siro divide to rivals Milan.

“That was a story dreamed up by the media. It was very unfair and it’s no coincidence it emerged right before the derby. It’s completely untrue.”
