Chiesa optimistic of facing England with Italy

Federico Chiesa is still training separately from the rest of the Italy squad, but it is hoped he will be ready to face England next week.

The Azzurri are preparing for two different EURO 2024 qualifiers, hosting Malta at the Stadio San Nicola in Bari on Saturday evening and visiting England at Wembley Stadium next Tuesday.

Coach Luciano Spalletti oversaw the third training session today at the Coverciano camp and Chiesa has not yet participated in any of them with his teammates.

However, Sky Sport Italia remain confident that Chiesa is gearing up to a comeback at least for the second game against England.

If the Juventus forward was not able to make it for Wembley, then he would already have been sent home to Turin.

Chiesa has five goals and seven assists in 42 senior caps for Italy.

Domenico Berardi, Giacomo Raspadori and Chiesa’s Juve teammate Moise Kean were tested today in the trident attack for the match against Malta.
