Chiellini underlines ambitions as Los Angeles FC player

Giorgio Chiellini underlined his ambition and desire for success with Los Angeles FC following his free transfer from Juventus.

The 37-year-old Italian centre back is joining the MLS side on a free transfer a year ahead of his contract expiring with the Bianconeri, wanting a new adventure following Italy’s failure to qualify for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. Chiellini has signed an 18-month contract with the club, who are adding an experienced winner to the squad.

Speaking to LAFC’s internal media department, Chiellini underlined his ambition following his move from Juventus.

“I felt very strongly about this new chapter in my career, and I am grateful to LAFC for this opportunity.

“I’m thankful for all my years with Juventus and I’m looking forward to winning many more trophies in Los Angeles.”

Chiellini spent 17 years of his professional career with the Old Lady, from 2005 to 2022. In that time, he made 561 appearances across all competitions, helping the side win 19 major honours including nine Scudetti.

The Italian veteran was also a core part of the Italy squad that won Euro 2020 last summer, a key moment for Italian football following the failure to qualify for the World Cup in 2018.
