Chelsea considering bringing back Conte

Chelsea are exploring every avenue as they search for a new head coach and have started to consider the idea of bringing back Antonio Conte, reports detail.

The Blues dismissed Graham Potter last week after a tough 31-game spell in charge, no longer believing in his project in West London. The search has now begun for a new manager and this will be a thorough process, so the idea of bringing back Frank Lampard to be the interim coach is also gathering steam.

Conte is currently out of work following his Tottenham exit last month. Recent reports in Italy have suggested that he’ll either join Inter or Juventus at the end of the season, or take a sabbatical year.

As detailed by Miguel Delaney of The Independent, Chelsea are open to the idea of bringing back Conte to West London for a second spell and have already opened initial talks with intermediaries. A meeting could be set up between the two parties next week.

The Italian coach previously spent two years with the Blues from July 2016 to July 2018, guiding them to a Premier League title and FA Cup before his relatively acrimonious departure, which also saw a legal battle occur against the old ownership.
