Cataldi: Lazio will succeed, but…

Danilo Cataldi insists Lazio will succeed under Simone Inzaghi – but not until they improve “physically and tactically”.

Lazio bounced back from their defeat to Milan with a 2-0 win against Empoli over the weekend, but Cataldi felt his side rode their luck at times and therefore must improve quickly.

“Against Empoli we took the three points, but we need to improve physically and tactically,” the midfielder told Lazio Style Radio.

“There are still flaws to iron out, we’re not yet at peak fitness, but it’s not just us with physical problems because the season’s just started and a lot of teams are still struggling.

“Against Empoli missed something, but against all the other teams we’ve done very well.

“In Udine [Udinese], we must interpret the game in a different way, we can’t leave too much possession at our opponents’ feet.

“Inzaghi’s tactics go beyond the formation, e partner is willing to sacrifice himself for the other.

“Each player has to figure out autonomously what to do on the pitch, even though in the end we work as a team and are united as a group.

“We have to do on the pitch what we try in the week, we have to try and study our moves and then put our opponents under difficulty.

“Maybe we won’t succeed the first or second time, but I think we will succeed eventually.”
