Serie A is famously obsessed with victory as the primary target, so the Giallorossi hope to bring in the former Barcelona B manager with a different culture.

“Our objective this season is first of all to play good football,” said full-back Cassetti.

“As the Coach told us in these first few days of training, it is important to perform at a high level. The results follow as a consequence of that.

“We work a great deal with the ball and the type of football the Coach wants to implement. We're getting along well and are all concentrated on the new methods.”

There have been reports of some big names departing the club, including Mirko Vucinic, Daniele De Rossi, Jeremy Menez and Marco Borriello.

“It'd be a shame to lose Vucinic, as he's been my roommate for eight years. De Rossi, Menez and Borriello are great players and I hope with all my heart they stay.”

Cassetti also commented on director general Franco Baldini's statement about Francesco Totti being ‘lazy.'

“In all honesty, they're both adults and will resolve it between themselves. You can interpret Baldini's statements as a way of motivating our captain, so I don't understand all the controversy.”
