Cassetti: Bayern not like Manchester

Marco Cassetti sees differences between Roma’s defeat to Bayern last night, and the 7-1 loss to Manchester United in 2007.

Cassetti was part of the Roma side which went to Old Trafford holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final seven years ago, only to be torn apart by a rampant United.

Despite the scoreline being the same in yesterday evening’s group stage match at the Stadio Olimpico, however, the 37-year-old believes all 7-1 games are not equal.

“The biggest difference is that game [against Manchester United] was a quarter-final,” Cassetti told Sky.

“Whereas here [after the Bayern game] there’s a chance to remedy the situation.

“After Manchester there was no opportunity for revenge.

“These are the kind of games which shock you. In Manchester, they had three shots and scored three goals.

“You can try to forget it, but games like this [against Bayern Munich] you remember.”
