Callejon: Napoli won’t give up

Jose Callejon has warned Juventus that Napoli will not give up on their Serie A dream.

Napoli seem destined to finish runners-up to Juve for successive seasons, with the Bianconeri having built up a 15-point lead, but Callejon insists his side will pounce at any opportunity to close the gap.

“Juve are a very strong team,” Callejon told Sky Sport Italia.

“They have been for years and with Cristiano Ronaldo, they’ve improved even more. But we’re a great team too, we do our jobs and we fought them in our two League games.

“They have been for years and with Cristiano Ronaldo, they’ve improved even more. But we’re a great team too, we do our jobs and we fought them in our two League games.

“Unfortunately they didn’t go well, but we’ve always been in second place: it’s not over yet, we mustn’t give up on anything and we must keep going to the end.

The forward was one of three Napoli players in Serie A’s Team of the Winter, which did not include any Juve personnel, despite the Old Lady being runaway leaders…

“I’m happy about that,” he added.

“It shows that on a personal level I’m doing well, but I’m also very happy with what the team are doing and my Polish teammates included in this top 11.

“Had it been up to me, I’d have put in all my other teammates. I see how they work and I think they’re the best.

“However it’s still a beautiful team, starting with the goalkeeper, going through to the defence with Acerbi and De Vrij.

“Then there are Zapata and Papu Gomez of Atalanta, who are also having a great season, as is Praet.

“With a team like that maybe I’d need to run more, but it wouldn’t be a problem. All the players in this top 11 have been selected because they deserve it.”
