Borini still on Azzurri radar

The agent of Fabio Borini seems unconcerned that his move to Liverpool could jeopardise his place in the Italian national squad.

The forward, capped once by Cesare Prandelli, was taken to Euro 2012 but didn’t feature as the Azzurri reached the Final.

“The national side? Prandelli can have a long weekend in England to watch Borini and [Manchester City’s Mario] Balotelli,” a smiling Marco De Marchi told Sky Sport Italia.

Borini was a revelation in the capital last season, but he’s now yet again teammed up with boss Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.

“He’s known Rodgers since their time together in the Chelsea reserves and then at Swansea,” De Marchi continued.

“It’s like a return to the family. I’d also like to thank Roma who gave him an opportunity to grow in the best possible manner.”

The former Parma player was sold in order to finance a bid for Siena and Genoa co-owned striker Mattia Destro.
