“Now the tour de force begins after international duty and all the way through to the winter break. It was fundamental for us to at least maintain the gap at the top of the table, now we take on Young Boys and aim to qualify for the next Champions League round from Tuesday,” the defender told Sky Sport Italia.

“Juve signed a great player in Cristiano Ronaldo, he’s the best in the world and a remarkable professional.”

This was the first game with Mandzukic wearing the captain’s armband and he celebrated it with a goal.

“Mario has charisma and character, he pushes everyone along. I am happy for him.”
