Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento is ‘happy’ with the reports linking him to Inter and identified his own possible replacement at the Brazilian club.

The 24-year-old Brazilian shot stopper is one of the Nerazzurri’s key transfer targets ahead of the summer, being seen as a strong long-term option to replace Yann Sommer, who has surpassed expectations in the Lombardy capital this term.

Inter directors Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin have been in close contact with Bento and his entourage for months now and an offer is expected to be sent to Athletico Paranaense in the coming months, although the club may need to sell before they can buy.

Bento on Inter links

Speaking via page 21 of today’s Tuttosport, Bento discussed the links with Inter and who could replace him in the Athletico Paranaense first team.

“I’m happy that my name is linked to Inter, but nothing is finalised, it’s just speculation. Now I’m focused on Athletico, giving my best because this is where I conquered everything by playing.

“I hope I can learn as many things as possible to achieve even greater goals. And if I happen to leave, I’m sure that Leo Linck will do an excellent job.”

Inter have already received the green light from Bento and are now hoping to pay around €20m for the 24-year-old, whose contract with Athletico Paranaense lasts to December 2026.
