Benitez rules out Roma job

Rafa Benitez's agent has ruled out a return to Serie A at the helm of the new Roma. “He'd certainly prefer England.”

The Spaniard had a disappointing six-month spell in charge of Inter and, although he won the Club World Cup, flopped in Serie A.

He was replaced by Leonardo on Christmas Eve after terminating his Nerazzurri contract by mutual consent, but had been linked with another Italian Job at Roma.

“He'd certainly prefer England,” agent Manuel Garcia Quilon told Calciomercato.it.

“I have never received a call from the Giallorossi, but as I already said, he would like to manage a British club again.

“Have Chelsea called us? No, there is no news there.”

Benitez had been linked with Roma if current England general manager Franco Baldini was hired to run the club's affairs.

The Giallorossi will be under American ownership next season after Thomas Di Benedetto's takeover.
