‘Barca in very high spirits for Juve’

Barcelona Vice-President Jordi Mestre claims his club are in “very high spirits” for their Champions League quarter-final against Juventus.

The last-eight tie marks a repeat of the 2015 final, when Barca beat Juve 3-1 to lift the European cup, and Mestre felt the Blaugrana were in “a good place” to get the better of the Old Lady a second time.

“It’s a very difficult tie, but we’re in a good dynamic and very high spirits,” he said after Friday’s draw in Nyon.

“It’s a very difficult tie, but we’re in a good dynamic and very high spirits,” he said after Friday’s draw in Nyon.

“It doesn’t mean we’ll go through, but we’re in a good place to do so.

“The draw is the draw and in the quarter-finals there are no easy teams. It won’t be easy against Juve, we have to remember that two years ago, they played in the final against us.

“We’ve been given tough draws for years now, but we're pulling forward.

“We have respect for the potential that Juve have and a player [Dani Alves] that was with us for many years and who we love a lot.

“It’ll be a special tie. On playing the second leg at home, it depends on how the first one goes.

“The key will be getting an away goal. Another comeback? I hope such an extreme doesn’t happen again.”
