‘Banfield open to Urzi sale’

Banfield President Lucia Barbuto has confirmed that she is open to selling Serie A target Agustin Urzi for less than his €30m release clause.

Urzi has attracted interest from Inter, Roma and Fiorentina, amongst other European sides, and Barbuto explained to FcInterNews.it why the Argentina Under-23 winger was in demand.

“He’s a quick player who can unpick a defence, with a change of pace and acceleration. He has great technique and acceleration,” she told the website.

“He’s bold and brave. He can play as a left winger or as a playmaker in the same area of the pitch.

“He’s a fighter, he’s excellent from distance and he easily reaches the opposite goal.

“Did Urzi say Inter are interested in him? There have been several enquiries and bites, but we haven’t received any formal offers for the time being.

“Once the interest is concrete, we’ll analyse it and assess what is best for the future of the player and his club.

“Agustín’s a player with great potential. I can’t say how far he’ll go, but I’m convinced he has all the characteristics to succeed.

“He’s doing it at Banfield, he’s already achieved success with Argentina. And I have no doubt that he’ll make it in the future, going where his talent and career will take him.

“We’ve received enquiries from several clubs in Europe, but because of the coronavirus pandemic we don’t really know what the summer transfer window will look like.

“His release clause is set at €30m but, in order not to clip his wings and taking into account the effects of the pandemic, Banfield are willing to negotiate possibly a smaller amount.

“Obviously we’ll have to analyse the economic and sporting side too.”
