Aston Villa sporting director Monchi has made contact with the representatives of Denzel Dumfries as the Premier League side look for a deal for the Inter wing back.

The 28-year-old Dutchman has been a regular feature for the Nerazzurri since his arrival back in 2021 and finds himself in an interesting spot heading into the summer, having just a year left on his contract in the Lombardy capital.

Inter have been hoping to set up a new contract for Dumfries but don’t feel the pressure as the transfer market approaches, willing to retain him for the new season should the right offer not arrive in the coming months.

Dumfries interest

Page 16 of today’s Tuttosport details how Aston Villa director Monchi has contacted Dumfries’ representatives Wasserman to understand the margins of a possible deal this summer, where his desire for a €5m salary was made clear.

The biggest obstacle for Unai Emery’s side is Inter’s €30m price tag, a fee the club consider fair due to his starting status under Simone Inzaghi.
