Arsenal set price tag for Juventus target Gabriel

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper, Arsenal defender Gabriel has become Juventus‘ priority to replace Matthijs de Ligt, but the Gunners want at least €40m.

The Brazilian centre-back has emerged as the Bianconeri’s No.1 target to replace De Ligt, who wants to leave the Allianz Stadium in the summer.

The pink paper reports that Arsenal want at least €40m for Gabriel who is not on the market and is part of Mikel Arteta’s plans for next season.

However, 21-year-old William Saliba could be given more playing time after an impressive loan spell at Marseille, where he was named the best youngster in the Ligue 1 for 2021-22.

Gabriel earns €2.6m-a-year at the Emirates Stadium, so his wages are affordable for the Old Lady, who can also use the growth decree to get a 50% cut on the player’s gross salary.

Napoli‘s alidou Koulibaly, Torino‘s Gleison Bremer and Manuel Akanji (Borussia Dortmund) and Benoît Badiashile (Monaco) are also on Juventus’ sights.

The Serie A giants may need to replace both Giorgio Chiellini and De Ligt this summer. The former Italy international has already joined Los Angeles FC, while the Dutch defender has a contract until 2024 but is unwilling to pen a new deal.

Juventus are listening to offers for the Dutchman and are currently in talks with Chelsea.
