“I had a long history with Roma, but this is the past and don’t treat Lazio any differently. It’s more your curiosity than something in my mind,” he told reporters at a Press conference.

“We are interested to see how we hold up against Lazio, as they are the first top level opponent we are facing this season. I admire them a great deal, the way they play and their Coach Inzaghi, but hopefully we can put what we prepared into practice.

“Sometimes football goes beyond logic and can be very unpredictable, so we must be ready for anything. Attitude will make a big difference.”

Domenico Maietta has shaken off a knock, but veteran full-backs Manuel Pasqual and Luca Antonelli are both out of action.

“Frederic Veseli can play as a left-back and we know it’s not his ideal position, but he has the characteristics to do the role. I can also confirm that, despite reports to the contrary, Emanuele Terracciano will start in goal and is not being replaced.”
